Slow Wi-Fi in certain rooms is one of the most common questions we get. Before buying a new router, check these:
1. Router position — keep it high, central and away from metal cabinets, fridges and thick concrete walls.
2. Band — 5 GHz is faster but travels less far; 2.4 GHz reaches further but is more crowded.
3. Channel congestion — in busy apartment blocks, a Wi-Fi scanner shows which channels are free.
4. Extenders — a cheap repeater can halve your speed. A mesh system or a cabled access point is usually better.
5. The internet line itself — test speed with a cable plugged straight into the router to rule out the ISP.
